Need Canon Slr Suggestions. Lost Between Xsi And 50d?
Posted by Billy in Question & AnswerI’m not that much of a camera whiz, but I’ve outgrown my point and shoot powershot camera. I pretty much mastered it. Took great action shots with what limited options I had to work with, but its really time to step it up!
I need something I can take action shots of quads and portrait/action shots of horses.
I’ve really been torn between these two cameras. The Xsi and the 50D. I would really like to hear everyone opinions on these two styles of cameras.

Even though this camera is 1 gen behind, you can’t go wrong with a 5D, it has a full frame sensor. If you get a 50D, the 60D will be out soon and you’ll be behind again.
If you’ve out grown your p&s, you’ll soon be bored with an Xsi.
The 5D series is the break point between consumer and pro cameras.
It only accepts EF lens, but there no crop factor.
And you can get it now for what a 50D costs if you look around!
I suggest the XSi and a good quality lens or two. The camera itself will make absolutely no difference in image quality. As this is your first SLR you don’t know how to use it on manual yet so the extra features of the 50D will be of no use to you for a while. You will also find that you are going to need different lenses for different situations. Most lenses will cost as much or more than the camera itself does so you want to have some money left over. Also lenses last a lifetime while camera bodies will be obsolete in a couple of years.
Get the XSi and a good quality lens or two and learn how to use the camera to its potential. In a couple of years after you have learned everything you will be ready to upgrade to the newest greatest model.
Both are geat camera.I would recommend Canon 50D for action shots.
It can shoot up to 6.3 fps, in bursts of up to 90 JPEGs (using an UDMA CF card), 60 JPEGs (using a CF card) consecutively or 16 RAW files, so you’ll never, ever miss a shothttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EQ4…
