Canon SLR Cameras

I know nothing about cameras, my daughter is signed up for photography class next year. We got her a used camera for her class and it didn’t have one.

We’re thinking of buying a digital canon rebel body, since we have a few lenses from film rebels, we’d like to know if they are compatable.

I got one for free and I’m wondering if it’s worth it to sell it.

I understand I may not get the fancy features of auto focus etc and that everything will be manual but will the lens fit and take nice pictures?

How do you tell the difference between a black-and-white film camera and a digital camera?

It says that the camera has a 6v battery that works but is currently reading 5.9v. & May need to be replaced…How much would that be to have replaced? and what exactly is it? Thank you.

I’ve been looking at buying one used. I’ve seen several that appear to have a sticky grip where your right hand holds the camera. Is this a case of the plastic of the grip breaking down. The area where you hold the camera on the left doesn’t seem to have this problem.
Or is there a habit of some photographers where they put some adhesive on it for a sure grip?
