Canon SLR Cameras

i know its an old camera but i need to use it for my photography class….

can i use my canon 35mm lens on the 40D?

I’m a photographer, and I shoot with a Nikon D40x. It’s a good camera, but not one of the best one. So I was thinking on getting a D80, which apparently is one of the best SLR Nikon Cameras. But then I was lurking around, and I saw Canons are pretty goood too! I have never used a Canon, so I have no idea how well they take pictures, nor I dont know any of their cameras!
So, would anyone help?

I have seen the Canon d1000 an the Nikon d60 and d40 along with the Sony a200, but what is the best of these four.
Are there any others that are recommended around the £340 price range.

I have a Canon Rebel XTi, and I am wondering what some pretty good lenses are? I want a big zoom. And, I am not looking to spend very much right now, so preferably $350 and under at the moment. But don’t let the price stop you from telling me a good lense from a bad! Any good flashes as well? Thank you!

A section of the mirror damper foam broke away. I live in far northwest Minnesota and nowhere near a Camera repair store. If someone can suggest a good replacemet material an a replacemet method I would be grateful. And NO, I wont go back to digital!

I have a rebel xsi and i am looking for a good all around lens that i could use for this camera and eventually if i get a 50d that would work and be a good lens for the future

If I can buy just one flash, should I spend the extra dollar to get the 580? Is it worth the money? Why?
This will be mostly casual photography, but on occasions portraits and weddings for friends.
