can I use the lenses from my canon rebel slr on a digital canon rebel slr. I want to upgrade to a digital but I have 3 lenses I don’t want to go to waste

I know nothing about cameras, my daughter is signed up for photography class next year. We got her a used camera for her class and it didn’t have one.

I do mainly outdoor photography and need to upgrade from my Sony (ugh). I’m looking to start in-studio photography towards the end of next year, but will still be focusing on outdoors. I have tried creative zones and auto features, yet my pictures still have an orange tint when taking pictures within an ice rink?

I’m using the Canaon Powershot S3 IS at the moment. It does the job but now I need a little more after learning to shoot manually. To go further I wanted to know which was a better camera between the two.
